Caravan Awnings
Caravan Awnings can be a standard feature these days as most new vans are fitted with rollout awnings or at least as an optional extra which are permanently attached to the caravan. Gone are the days where we struggled with heavy one piece annexes trying to feed them through sail track high on the sides of caravans.

Rollout caravan awnings can be fitted to most caravans and provide an excellent source of protection from the elements whether it is protecting you from the sun or rain whilst sitting under it or shading the side of the caravan from the hot sun. Caravan awnings are great for caravanners who are touring as they can be pulled out or retracted easily in a short period of time, whether you are parked on the side of the road for lunch or setup in a caravan park for an overnight stay.
Some caravan awnings come with or can be accessorised with removable ends and front; this option is excellent for providing an additional room during extended stays at caravan parks etc.
The trusty old full canvas annexe still has it’s place in the caravanning world and will probably never be fully replaced by caravan awnings. The good thing about canvas is it’s strength, I have seen many a canvas annexe stand up to the ferocity of thunderstorms and beatings from hail stones. Annexes are also especially useful for providing that extra room and can accommodate unexpected guests overnight or family who love the great atmosphere of caravan parks.
Caravan awnings are usually better fitted by experienced professionals as quite often there are minor modifications required to accommodate the caravan awnings.
