Global Positioning Satellite (GPS)

or Global Positioning Systems (GPS)

A global positioning satellite is used by a global positioning system to plot locations and bearings to enable navigation via inbuilt maps.

global positioning satelliteWhat a stress relieving device these little wonders are. Admittedly a global positioning satellite can be a little boring out on the open highway, but imagine this. You are approaching a major city which you need to pass through or find a caravan park in for your overnight stop an it is approaching peek hour and your travelling partner is frantically trying to decipher an out of date map in the failing daylight.

Global positioning satelliteWith global positioning satellite technology you can forget all of the above, simply pull off the side of the road enter the address of the place you want to go to and the lovely person who’s voice comes out of the GPS will guide you turn by turn to your destination. A lot of the newer GPS units will actually notify you which direction you need to turn, in what distance and into what street you will be turning.

GPS units are available in various models from basic units through to touch screen units equipped with Bluetooth so you can use them with your Bluetooth mobile phone as a hands free unit.
